Animals in Our Care
These are all of the animals in our care currently. If you see a cutie that you're interested in, please contact us to set up a time to meet them!
*Please note that all of our rescues have a small adoption fee to help cover medical expenses. Adoption fees are determined based on the medical expenses incurred for a pet's treatment and the temperament of the pet.*
Adoptable Pets
Shadow
Shadow is a four-year-old longer-haired cat, who was brought to us after his mom passed away. Living with 24 other kitties, Shadow hasn't had a lot of time to get to know people. Because of this, he is still a little shy. However, he is definitely a loving cat, who just needs time for his personality to shine.
His favorite thing is his big cat tree that he likes to lay and hide in. It makes him feel secure, and for a long time, he would only let me visit him in the cat tree. Now, he is finally starting to come out of it to see me when I go into the foster room. In our experience with him, he would do best in a home that is a little more calm and slow moving. He is a very submissive cat, so any animal that is going to bully him would be a bad companion. He does great with other cats who treat him well. We are unsure of his experiences with dogs.
Shadow had his whole world turned upside down and just needs someone willing to give him a little time and grace in a new home. He would make anyone a very calm, sweet, loving companion.
This sweet boy is fixed, vaccinated, and ready for a forever home. Adoption fee is 80$.
Chunk
Chunk's previous living situation was described by the ACO that rescued him as horrific and "hazmat suit worthy."
Chunk is a 10+ year old orange tabby that came from an awful hoarding situation involving upwards of 50 cats, many of which were semi-feral. Thankfully, Chunk has proven himself to be the biggest, cuddliest, chunkiest little guy that ever graced our presence. He loves to just sit and be rubbed from head to toe. He will meow for attention and food and follow his person around until they provide.
We were told by the previous owner that he had some urinary issues and needed urinary hard food to help this. I have not seen any major urinary issues so far, so I don't believe it's anything severe. Chunk seems to be overall in very good health for a senior.
Chunk is neutered and will be vaccinated soon! Adoption fee is 80$
Pets with Special Needs
Faith
Faith did not have an easy first 4-5 years of her life. We believe she may have had a home before with kids, because she absolutely adores kids, but something went wrong along the way. She was found severely injured on the side of the road one night after midnight. A Good Samaritan picked her up from a ditch, and we met her at the vet the very next morning. We realized quickly that Faith was paralyzed, and on top of it, showed signs of being a former bait dog. She was covered in scars, her top canines had been ripped out, and she's nervous around other big dogs at first.
However, Faith has not let anything from her past stop her, not even paralysis. She continues to be the sweetest, most loving dog that I have ever met, despite how cruel humans were to her in the past. She fought against all the odds to regain mobility in her back legs. And although it's not perfect, she no longer needs a wheelchair to get around on her own. Her journey has been a long and painful one.
Faith is potty trained and kennel trained. She's a lover, a couch-potato, and a survivor. And now she needs a home where she can finally stop fighting and retire for the rest of her years. She is a very thick, muscular bully breed. We will be particular about Faith's new home. Meet and greets are requires, as well as vet references. She has recently completed her fast kill HW treatment.
Faith is fixed and vaccinated. Adoption fee 100$.
Seniors in Forever Foster
Chatter
Don't let this mean looking face fool you! Chatter is actually a super sweet butterball!
Chatter is a senior kitty whose world was forever changed recently when his former mom passed away. She had cared for Chatter his whole life, all 14 years, and he had never known anything different. He is a little shy at first, but he does come around quickly! He's friendly and likes to be pet, and he has been very well behaved at the vet. The mean look is due to an old injury above his right eye that makes it look menacing. And his name is definitely appropriate, because he does like to talk to you!
Despite being an only cat in the past, Chatter has reluctantly accepted the friendship of another senior boy in our care, Rocky. His tolerance for Rocky quickly grew to affection when they both became ill together. With them both being seniors, and having lost their moms, we couldn't bare the thought of separating. So we sought out a forever foster home for the both of them.
Chatter is with his best buddy, Rocky, at the home of the amazing Rachel Hernandez.
Rocky
Rocky came from the same home as our sweet boy, Shadow. Unfortunately, Rocky had recently tested positive for FIV before he came into our care. He is also 17 years old at this point. For these reasons, we sought out a forever foster for Rocky, rather than an adopter.
Rocky is a funny, sweet, and adventurous cat. He was friendly right out of the gate, even after losing the only mom he'd ever known. It was obvious from the beginning that he had an affection for other cats, and he chose Chatter to be his object of affection after his sister passed away. Chatter was reluctant at first, but then the two of them became peas in a pod!
FIV is by no means a death sentence. It is difficult to transfer to other cats because it must enter the blood through deep bite wounds. Rocky is a friendly boy, who wouldn't dream of hurting another cat, so he is not a risk to other cats. However, because of his age, we aimed to find a forever foster so that we could continue supporting him.
Rocky is now with his best buddy, Chatter, at the home of the amazing Rachel Hernandez.
Spicy Bois (Ferals)
Spicy Bee
Originally named Honey Bee, I knew from day one that this boy needed a more appropriate name. There was nothing "honey" or sweet about him except his chunky little face.
The brave and bold Melanie Bosarge was the first to attempt his capture, and he was quick to lash out in defense. Even after suffering a terrible wound, Melanie refused to give up! We worked together to get that boy into a carrier and straight to the vet!
Bee came from a house of 24 other cats. Their mom had passed away recently, leaving them all in limbo. Bee was especially left out in the cold, due to him being the most recent rescue. He had never had time to bond with anyone, and he was also suffering with a broken leg while in the home. The rescuer was unable to get him taken care of before her passing, so he hopped around the laundry room until we arrived two months later to remove them all.
I can't imagine the pain he must have been in, and the confusion he felt, so it's no wonder he was quite the spicy little fella. Thankfully, our vet was able to amputate the broken leg and get him comfortable again. Unable to hunt or defend himself, we knew we couldn't allow Bee to be an outside cat or barn cat, despite being totally feral.
So, Spicy Bee stays in the cat room. He will stay in there for as long as it takes for him to become friendly and adoptable or pass of old age. Already, in the months I've had him, he's made great strides in becoming less afraid of me. But I would still not try to touch him without a glove. :)
